state patrol FAIL

my coworker was out on her break when the governor’s escort vehicles pulled up and parked directly in front of the building in the passenger drop-off zone. she watched as Christine Gregoire and her driver and escorts got out and went into the hair salon next door.

not two minutes later, she said, a bicycle cop stopped by the cars and inspected them. he saw the official government stickers and plates and paused for a moment…but then wrote them parking tickets, got on his bike and rode off.

about half an hour later one of the governor’s escorts came out and stashed the tickets inside the SUV. but not before a few people snapped some photos. professional driver fail.

SPD fail.

Public servants work far more than we realize. If we can reduce the time they spend on self maintenance matters, it is beneficial for us.

The city parking is part of the “revenue collection” department. It’s not ethics, it is making money off of administrative rules.

So what we have is a poorly educated cop that does not realize that
A. he is wasting his time, the ticket will be dropped, hence he is wasting seattle’s money.
B. It is bad PR for the city.
C. Dealing with this takes time away from the state, and hence hurts our legislation.

HAHA funny funny… but in truth it is this sort of sophomoric behavior that wastes everyones time and resources.

No, I don’t want the governor to waste time with parking, I want them to go in and deal with their shit as fast as they can so they can get back to work. Doesn’t matter if it is a republicon or democrat… if they are a good administrator, they work 24-7.

Finding “working mans justice” in this situation is about the same as the dipshits that think “Joe the Plumber” has what it takes to run for congress.

A public servant is a public servant, they do not make as much money as they could in the private sector, hell… even the corrupt and lazy public servants are still working for less in order to fulfill their idea of how they can help the public.

lame.

well of course the ticket is going to be dropped. while i agree with your assessment my sentiment is this: lighten up!

i did point facetious fingers with my “professional driver fail” notion but on twitter i pointed out that the bike cop has gone rogue, because that’s exactly what happened. we’ve NEVER seen anyone ticketed for parking in that spot. my theory is that the ticket was a political statement on the part of the bicycle cop (or perhaps just a mean-spirited gesture).

regardless, it is and will continue to be funny. smile dude.

It’s getting close to the election and Dino Rossi is going to be our next govenor… which means Tim Eyeman will soon be appointed to manager of state projects. I’m tense. It’s ugly.

Rossi as our governor is about as appealing as Pailn as president. And Gregoire doesn’t have a chance.

Say goodbye to light rail… you think the seattle city council was impressive in how they killed the monorail… watch Rossi stop mass transit dead in it’s tracks.

more cars!

grmmmmble.

are you basing your pessimism on the polls? i wouldn’t discount the largely under-polled youth vote. washington state has reached 3.6 million actively registered voters and is projecting to top the 3 million mark for voter turn-out on tuesday. it’s not over until it’s over.

i’d consider it worse PR to see a cop consciously notice a government vehicle illegally parked and to carry on his merry way to cite a civvy instead.

The more important question is what salon was she going to? Because I think she needs to find a better one.
