the one where she needs extra shelving

i went walking around at lunch today, wearing these shoes that make me feel really short. i’m not really that short, i consider 167.6 cm to be pretty average (thank you very much) but i was having that weird flat sensation sliding heel-less around downtown. i compensated by trying to work on my posture, and engaging my abs yada yada; trying to walk as tall as i could.

but it became apparent that i didn’t really have anywhere to go at lunch, and as nice as it was outside, i’ve been wandering around the central shopping district at lunch for three years now and i’ve grown a little bored with it.

now, ignoring the three years part, i found myself wondering where there were any book stores nearby and then suddenly realized that i had found a Borders.

i practically ran to it. air conditioning! lists of needed books in my head! peace, quiet and bookwormery. i found the mythology, ancient history & philosophy section (merging into each other) and found Existentialism by Walter Kaufman, and Antiquity by Norman Cantor.

briefly, i scanned the mystery & romance sections for The Laughing Corpse but i didn’t want to be seen standing in front of the romance section for too long. you know.

there was an attractive man minding the register. kiiiind of looking like a close-cropped version of jared with really nice glasses all tan and well-read looking (though he didn’t have my baby’s edgy gamer ruffian appeal). regardless, i was feeling a little relieved that i hadn’t found the anita blake book i was looking for.

he said the kaufman book was good but he couldn’t vouch for Antiquity. yeah, i said. i didn’t know about it either. he said those kind always seem good at the time but you never know. i think he just put curse on my book.

back out on the street i realized that i need a home library set up. i kind of have a problem with books. the kind of problem with books that some women have with shoes.

the shoe problem that i actually don’t really have that bad (i’m serious).

EDIT: i had to repost this like three times because of some wordpress tubeclogging or whatever so i apologize if anyone gets peppered with various drafts in their readers or email.

let me tell you about book problems.

Hmmm.. better hope I stick around… your walls might buckle with what I might leave you.

Actually, there are a few others who have dibbs on stuff… but you may be able to caretake the books until they are free.

I don’t know…

I just wish I could read right now. but it is not good for that.

but yes… the eranos yearbook is really really really good… I have all of them… but of course volume 4 hold a special place in my heart.

the plan is to stick around.

so.

you’ll just have to borrow.

lies. the shoe problem is just as bad. and we DO have a shelf waiting to be laden with bookery, we’re just too lazy to go get it from our storage unit :p

Oh yeah… I’m glad you restored the “a philosopher of sorts” phrase! I kinda like it.
