so some jerk in a big boat decided that rush hour was a good time to pass under the west seattle bridge, causing them to open up the lower deck. since traffic is so godawful recently, i’ve been taking the lower route across because it’s the only way to get to work in less than an hour.

so i’m waiting in line to cross the bridge, and right ahead of me was a merge zone. the suv in front of me was directly in the merge zone, but by all definitions was in front of the ford focus waiting to merge with us. but the focus tried to speed up in front of the suv, wedging itself between the suv and the curb. i must reiterate that traffic was stopped. there was no place for the focus to go in front of the suv. the other thing the suv failed to notice, was the rat city rollergirl bumper sticker on the back of the suv.

i watched those two rev their engines at each other for a few seconds. then they got to sit right next to each other for the rest of the ten minute wait.

finally, someone in front of the suv bailed out and pulled a u-turn to try a different route. the suv lurched forward and ruined any hope for the focus to get in front of her.

we all finally get across the lower bridge and proceed towards the second exit for I-5/99. the focus has been following the suv, but as soon as the second lane opened up, he zipped out into the right lane to try to get around the suv. suv rollargirl saw this happening, and pulled out into the right lane in front of the focus, and sped away.

i hate people who try to merge in front of you when it would just work better for them to get in behind you. my rule of thumb is, whoever is in front goes in front.
